This blog cronicles the preparation of one hapless athlete in his 20 week preparation for his first adventure race, Gael Force West Adventure Challenge 2009.
6 hours of running, kayaking, running, cycling, hill climbing and more cycling. What can you do but smile.

Hey Piaras, Well done - I think it was far tougher than I imagined it would be. A great achievement to finish! Pity we missed you on saturday night - the irwin brothers tested another kind of endurance. at least body and mind were in the same state today!! John

Hey congrats on doin it! I was a first timer myself and I got a lot out of this site and boards. I see registration for next year opens in the Autumn :)
Results should be on the main site today around 5.

Well done Piaras, it was seriously tough, much harder than myself and my mates had thought it would be (we were first timers too). Definitely signing up for next year though. Had a brilliant time, and I'm very happy with my time too.
Well done P. Great feeling to get finished isn`t it ! Trouble is it just makes you want to do more races.... for a few race ideas check out the following sites www.roar.ie, www.ratraceadventures.com, www.causwaycoast.com
WEll done - it was, without doubt or exaggeration, the hardest thing I've ever done in my life!!! It's kind of surreal now as it seems so long ago and feels like it didn't happen, although my muscles insist on reminding me that it did happen!!! SUch an incredible feat - so WELL DONE TO ALL :) Lucianne
